Ahalia Ayurveda began in Valappad, Thrissur, in 1926. What started as one physician’s practice would be carried forward through generations, across Kerala and eventually to Abu Dhabi.

It started in Valappad
In 1926, Vazhoor Sreenivasan Vaidiyar began practising Ayurveda in Valappad, Thrissur.
His work was grounded in a tradition where knowledge was learned through practice, observation and years of study, then passed carefully from one generation to the next.
At the time, there was no medical college bearing the Ahalia name, no hospital and no network of centres. There was a physician, his knowledge and a way of practising Ayurveda that would become the foundation for everything that followed.

Ahalia Ayurveda grew through continuity rather than reinvention.
The knowledge and methods that shaped the original practice were carried forward through generations, allowing the tradition to develop while remaining connected to where it began.
Over time, the practice grew beyond the individual physician and became part of a wider system of Ayurvedic education and clinical care.

In Palakkad, Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College Hospital brings education and medical practice together — students learn the discipline, physicians practise it, and Ayurvedic medicines are prepared through established processes. What began as knowledge passed from physician to physician now continues through structured education and clinical practice.
From Kerala to Abu Dhabi
The geography changed. The principles did not.
When Ahalia Ayurveda expanded into Abu Dhabi, it brought the same approach that shaped the practice from the beginning: understand the individual first, then decide what care should follow.
Today, that approach continues across Ahalia Ayurveda’s medical centres in Abu Dhabi, connecting nearly a century of practice in Kerala with the people receiving care here.
